Safe Work Practices
All workers to be trained and competent in the use of portable ladders and working around electricity. Ladders to be checked daily.
Supervisor to carry out daily inspections of work site for hazards. Supervisor to be trained in risk identification, assessment and control.
Appropriate industry and site induction. Aerial lift and fall arrest training.
All personnel to maintain a tidy work area on site at all times. PPE is to be worn at all times on site. Hand tools to be checked regularly.
Supervisor to be appropriately trained, qualified and competent in OH & S and electrical practices for the task.
Safe Job Procedure
- Check location to drawings and specification layout and mark out.
- Plan installation so as to work toward the main panel. Connections to the main panel to be made only when it is confirmed not live.
- Confirm cable specifications and condition.
- Begin installation. Use ladders in accordance with SJP. Use SWP for manual lifting and risk control procedures. Ensure that no bare conductors touch live parts. Insulate both ends of all cables near any live parts. Use suitable gloves.
- Terminate. Isolate panel and install all necessary warning tags.
- Clean area.
- Test installation. Confirmed not live and identify cables before commencing.
- Remove danger tags.
- Energize main panel.
- Install signs or labels as required.
