Safe Work Practices
- Use care while driving appropriate PPE, sun glasses if necessary.
- Driver fatigue resulting in crash causing death or injury
- Observe caution while driving, take regular rest breaks. Watch for signs of driver fatigue. Stop, revive, survive.
- Keep a lookout, especially when reversing, for pedestrians, other vehicles and objects
- Personal care must be taken, regular rest and patience and tolerance for other drivers
- Personal care must be taken, use correct posture when driving, adjust seat, mirrors and steering wheel.
Safe Job Procedure
- Entering and exiting the vehicle. Personal care must be used at all times ensuring you enter and exit vehicle using step or handrail. Do not jump down from vehicle. Do not attempt to gain access to vehicle carrying heavy objects.
- Driving vehicle. Exercise extreme care when driving, obey all road regulations, do not speed. Inspect vehicle regularly for any faults. (refer to vehicle inspection checklist). Observe company substance abuse policy, do not drive if affected by drugs or alcohol. It is illegal to use hand held mobile phones or text message while driving.
